Accountability
TTEIC uses our values and principles as a central compass for our accountability regarding the communities, specifically BIPOC communities, we impact. We are in the process of learning about accountability processes that deeply align with our core values. We wish to develop a community that can hold space for ongoing learning, even (or especially) in the face of harm or conflict, which can offer opportunities to deepen our understanding of how to be in community together, to engage in repair and healing, and to build stronger, more resilient relationships.
We seek to be accountable to one another, our Governing Circle members and Community Committee members, and we seek to be accountable to the tri-town BIPOC community.
We do so by:
(1) Sharing our Governance Circle minutes with our broader community
(2) Establishing partnerships within the wider-community and BIPOC-community; and with other groups and committees whose work in the Tri-Town area insects with ours, such as the Town Racial Equity committee; Arts and Culture Association of Freeport; Freeport Community Services; Freeport Housing Trust; RSU-5 Diversity & Equity Committee, and others
(3) Continually adding to our inner work so we can properly assess our outer work
(4) Showing up when we are asked, and even more so when we are not asked, as a partner to the BIPOC community
